Accessibility Statement
We want every reader to be able to explore Amalia Brooks' books. The site aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA.
What we have done
- A “Reduce motion” switch in the footer of every page, and automatic respect for your device’s reduced-motion setting.
- Descriptive text alternatives for book covers and meaningful images; decorative images are hidden from screen readers.
- A logical heading structure, labelled navigation and keyboard access to menus, galleries and forms.
- Book information available as plain, readable pages at /books/, independent of the animated homepage.
- Text contrast checked against dark backgrounds, and content that reflows on small screens.
Known limitations
- The homepage uses scroll-driven animation and a custom cursor on desktop. Turning on “Reduce motion” replaces both with a calmer experience.
- Some decorative text (such as large outlined words) is intentionally low contrast and hidden from assistive technology.
